Mattress Buying Guide

Points to Ponder...

How to choose a mattress? What is the best mattress? We know choosing a mattress can be daunting – especially since it’s probably been a while since your last trip to the mattress store. We’re here to help make sense of it all and provide you with everything you need to know so you can find the best mattress to buy for your lifestyle and budget. Let’s get started!

Mattress Dimensions Chart
Twin mattress
39" wide x 75" long
Twin extra-long mattress
39" wide x 80" long
Full size bed / Double mattress
54" wide x 75" long
Queen mattress
60" wide x 80" long
King mattress
76" wide x 80" long
California King mattress
72" wide x 84" long

To identify the correct mattress size for your space, consider the following:
The mattress should be longer than the tallest person sleeping on it.
The bed width should allow enough space to fold your arms behind your head without going beyond the mattress edge or touching your partner’s elbows (for two adults, we recommend either a queen or a king).

“Misty was so helpful in my search for a new mattress. She helped me pick the perfect mattress by considering my needs and budget. Thanks Misty!”

How much should you spend on a mattress? Determine a budget you are comfortable with and let your salesperson know to avoid going over budget. As a general rule with mattresses, you get what you pay for. The higher the quality, the better the comfort, support and durability. However, it is important to pick a model that is within your budget. We are happy to explain the differences and help you choose the best model for you.

We recommend the “eight days of pay for eight years” model: Take one
day’s pay and multiply it by eight. That’s how much you should spend on a
mattress that will last eight years. If you don’t plan on keeping your
mattress that long, or it’s going to be a guest mattress that will be
used less often, you may consider spending less, but consider using this
equation to find your ballpark price range.

If you answer Yes to any of these questions, it is time for a new mattress!

Once your salesperson has shown you some different mattress brands within your size and budget range, test out your mattress options by laying on it like you would at home. Feel free to lay down as long as you need to. We understand this is a big decision and want you to be confident in your choice.

Does your mattress have a low spot or sagging?
Does your matttress show visible signs of wear and tear?
Is your mattress creaking or noisy?
Are your arms and legs falling asleep regularly?
Do you wake up with aches and pains?
Can you feel the coils while in your bed?
Do you wake up tossing and turning?
Do you roll toward the middle of the bed or easily roll off the edge of the bed?
Is your mattress more than 8 years old?
Have you outgrown your current mattress or in need of a larger one?

Once you have determined the best mattress for your needs, it is time to consider how to purchase the mattress. At Kings & Queens, we offer several flexible options for financing such as Layaway, $0 down 0% interest for 6 months and $0 rent to own with No credit check.

What does the warranty cover? Most manufacturer warranties will cover manufacturer defects and body impressions. Stains on the mattress will void your warranty, so consider purchasing a mattress cover that will protect your mattress for years to come.

Once you have found the perfect mattress you are more than half way there! Here are some essential bedding accessories to help complete your sleep sanctuary.

Pillows: The wrong pillow can cause neck pain and aggravate allergies if you let dust mites accumulate. Replace your pillow every two to five years.

Sheets: Who dosent love a new set of sheets?! We have many options from microfiber, egyptian cotton, linen and bamboo!

Frames: Mattresses held in place by a bed frame often take less space than bed rails with headboards and foot boards. High rise frames replace the mattress and box spring and create additional space under the bed. Adjustable bases allow the head and foot of the bed to be lifted to your desired height.

Mattress Protectors: A quality mattress protector keeps the exterior and interior of your mattress as clean as possible, protecting it from stains and general wear and tear. Our protectors come with their own additional warranty as well ensuring your bed will not have stains.

Mattress Topper: Add an extra layer of comfort and support with a mattress topper. We offer memory foam, down and gel memory foam toppers.

Comfort Control: A mattress with an adjustable base (also referred to as a “power base”) allows you and your partner to adjust the height of the head and feet of your mattress. This is great for reading, working on a computer or watching tv. Some bases also have massage, under bed lighting and usb charging ports
